Gölhisar Vocational School Forestry Department, Conducted Field Applications at İbecik Forest Management Chiefdom

In cooperation with Gölhisar Forest Management Directorate and Gölhisar Vocational School Forestry Department, under the coordination of Department Head Assoc. Prof. Özdemir ŞENTÜRK, field applications were carried out within the scope of the Vocational Education and Project Management II course at İbecik Forest Management Chiefdom.

In the first part of the field application, practical training on stamp types, tree cutting, bark cutting and branch pruning, grading and measurement was given to the students by İbecik Forest Management Chief Özgür Durmuş KAYA and the Forest Protection Officers Team.

In the second part, in the area subject to juvenile care, density care, and seed cutting, tree identification, density care, then mechanized soil processing and buror terrace construction and sapling planting in the afforestation area, mechanized soil processing in the natural regeneration area, weed removal and hoeing operations in the industrial plantation area were carried out. Afterwards, branch pruning was performed on future individuals in the pruning area.

In the control plot where density care work was carried out in past years, the evaluation of the intervened and non-intervened area was made. Additionally, information was provided about the importance and usage of pheromone traps used in biological control.

At the end of the application, Department Head Assoc. Prof. Özdemir ŞENTÜRK expressed his gratitude to the Gölhisar Forest Management Directorate, especially to İbecik Forest Management Chief Özgür Durmuş KAYA and the Forest Protection Officers Team.
